What to look out for when choosing a kitchen sink

Your kitchen is a vital part of your home. Choosing the right types of kitchen sinks and accessories can make cooking, washing, and cutting more enjoyable.

Before choosing a kitchen sink, you should carefully select the size and ensure that it is not too big or small for your kitchen. It is also important to consider the material the sink is made of while paying particular attention to durability. You should equally consider your taste and picture how it will match the current arrangement of your kitchen, including the kitchen cabinet.

This blog is a quick introductory overview to help you choose from the different types of kitchen sinks.

Stainless Steel Sinks

Our most basic sink is a stainless steel sink. Many granite companies offer a stainless steel sink as part of the countertop purchase. So, if you are looking for ways to save money on your project, consider the timeless simplicity of a stainless steel sink.

Stainless steel is durable and comes in a large variety of sizes. This single bowl sink is a nice deep sink easily accommodating large pots. A favorite sink that is trending right now is the 60/40 sink. This sink allows a nice space on the right side to clean large pots while still including space for rinsing dishes.

You will even love it more because it is hygienic, easy to clean, and it is compatible with different cleaning products.

Blanco Silgranit Sink

Another popular sink is the Silgranit series from Blanco. These sinks which can be under-mounted or mounted traditionally on top of the counter are considered by many designers to be the most durable sinks on the market. Many people prefer the look of a darker sink to a stainless steel sink. Silgranite is a mixture of granite and composite material that is easy to care for and does not scratch easily.

Farmhouse Sinks

Farmhouse sinks have become very popular in recent years. The extended apron makes it a beautiful focal point in the kitchen. Farmhouse sinks come in many colors and styles. Pictured here are farmhouse sinks in stainless steel, hammered copper and enamel coated cast iron. They are typically single bowl sinks, but can be done in double bowl or 60/40 as pictured below.

If your kitchen has an island consider adding a prep sink. Pictured above is a granite composite undermounted sink. This amazing little sink can make your kitchen work area more efficient.
